Who writes collective memory? How can we collectively rewrite it? Individual and collective memory and different ways of producing knowledge are the focus of the meeting DO NOT FORGET, which involves Ana Pi, Anna-Marija Adomaityte, Jana Shostak, Julian Hetzel and Ntando Cele.

We will discuss the creation of dominant narratives and how individuals and even entire social groups are excluded from collective memory. We will also investigate how the capitalist order monetises and seeks to dominate various forms of social resistance, questioning whether a change of perspective and a reversal of dominant narratives can become a potential expression of contemporary resistance.

Bek Berger is the artistic director of the New Theatre Institute of Latvia (NTIL) and curator of the International Festival of Contemporary Performance Homo Novus. Originally from Melbourne, she has worked in festivals across the globe such as American Realness (NYC), Dance Massive (AU), Darwin Festival (AU), Fierce Festival (UK) and Forest Fringe (UK). As a curator she has co-initiated projects such as Critical Futures, Convergence, La Discorso and Possible Futures Forum. In addition to her curatorial work, Bek is the Dramaturg for Dance Artist James Batchelor.
